modeling and analysis of discrete systems

students will develop a basic understanding of analytical and experimental techniques for the modeling and analysis of discrete systems in general and manufacturing systems in particular. students will utilize techniques such as simulation, Markov Chains, Queuing Theory, and Petri Nets to model and analyze manufacturing systems.  they will investigate issues in this subject area through readings, lectures, and homework.
