The 2005 College
of Engineering Open House 2005
IT
WAS A GREAT TIME !
Each
spring the College of Engineering hosts its annual Open House. This
event is a chance to see the advanced research activities of the
college, student projects, and to see what the college has to offer.
This event is hosted by the
Engineering Council which is
celebrating its 50th year of service with the College of Engineering.
This year's event was free, open to the public, and feature some 70
projects by students and faculty. The college also had the
opportunity to host approximately 500 children from local Wichita and
surrounding Sedgwick county schools. Some of the notes received back to us from
teachers prove that we made a positive impact on the kids as well as
their teachers.
"Wow! My students had a wonderful time this morning at the engineering
open house. Our tour guide, Bailey, was so helpful. We were only able to
stay 2 hours, so she adjusted the schedule so the students could see
exhibits of interest. Dr. Miller even showed us the wind tunnel. My
students were so impressed with his hospitality. Thank you for setting
up the morning for us. It is so exciting to see my students excited
about education!" Sara Wade, McCollom Elementary School
"Thank you for a wonderful day at WSU. The kids were exposed to many
wonderful projects and activities. They really enjoyed themselves and as
teachers we really enjoyed the fact that they were seeing the use of
math and science. Our hope is that they will become and stay interested
in the sciences and your open house really encourages that. Thanks for
all of the work and organization that you put into the event. One of the
guides really stood out above the rest; so we would like to especially
thank Jacob. We wished we would have had more time to see all of the
exhibits and do all of the activities ! Having the food and picnic
atmosphere was a really wonderful addition." Anna Woods, Christian Ramstack, Candi Foster (4th Grade
Horace Mann)
"Thanks Holly for all of your hard work. Thank all of the students
for us. We had a great time!"Sherry Mundinger
