Faculty in the IMfgE department
conduct research in the areas of Manufacturing systems, Manufacturing processes, Design
for Manufacturing, Metrology, Ergonomics, Biomechanics, Decision Analysis, Quality
engineering, Statistical Process Control, Enterprise engineering, Supply Chain Management,
Virtual Reality and in Educational methods. Many of the research projects are sponsored by
industries such as Boeing, Bombardier, Cessna and Raytheon through ADMRC (Aircraft Design
and Manufacturing Research Consortium) and MIND (Manufacturing Innovation Development
Initiative); federal sources such as the National Science Foundation (NSF), Federal
Aviation Administration (FAA) and the Department of Defense (DOD); state government
agencies such as the Kansas Technology Enterprise Corporation (KTEC) and other
organizations such as the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME).
